Rate rises

Rates went up again. You have more options than selling.

Most owners feeling the pinch don’t need to sell. Get the numbers first.

What makes it hard

You are not the only one

  • Repayments are up and the buffer is shrinking.
  • You don’t know what your home would sell for now.
  • Selling feels like the only option.
  • You want to keep it private.

How we help

Options first, then a plan

Options before selling

A hardship request or a refinance may buy time. We point you there first.

A sell-or-hold picture

What you’d sell for, what it costs to sell, and what holding another year looks like.

A quiet sale if it is the right call

If selling is right, an off-market or low-key campaign keeps it private.

Before we talk

Useful to have handy

  • Your latest loan statement and current interest rate
  • Any fixed-rate expiry date
  • A rough monthly budget
  • Whether you would rent, buy smaller or move in with family after a sale

Questions

What owners ask us

Should I sell before rates go up again?

It depends on your equity and buffer. Sometimes selling early protects you; sometimes a hardship arrangement or refinance means you never need to. We cover the sale side; a broker or financial counsellor covers the loan.

What is a hardship request?

A written request to your lender saying you can’t meet repayments for now. Lenders must respond within set timeframes. The National Debt Helpline (1800 007 007) can help for free.

Can I sell without the neighbours knowing?

Yes. An off-market sale keeps it off the portals and the street, though it can mean fewer buyers.
